Most of our clients are in the process of Domino 8.02 or 8.5 upgrades. However, many of them are just now upgrading the clients which are often a mix of 6.5x and 7.x Notes clients to Lotus Notes 8 or Lotus Notes 8.5.

We have had a few clients wonder how quickly do they need to get their clients from 6.5x to 8.0x or 8.5.

The answer was a bunch of time still. IBM Lotus is giving us more than another 2 years: April 30, 2010.

That's well more than 6 years from its release date of Nov. 7, 2003 with 4 major versions currently being supported, the latest now on Linux, Mac, and Windows platforms. (That still doesn't include all the additional platforms where the Domino server is also supported.)

How long was each Lotus Notes release supported:
Notes / Domino 5 . . . . . . . . 5.5 years
Notes / Domino 6 . . . . . . . . 4.6 years
Notes / Domino 6.5 . . . . . . .6.4 years
(http://www-01.ibm.com/software/lotus/support/lifecycle/)

There are no dates released for Notes 7, Notes 8, or Notes 8.5.
However the average from the previous three releases 'lifecycle data is 5.5 years.

Notes / Domino 7 . . . . . . . 2011 maybe
Notes / Domino 8 . . . . . . . 2013 maybe
Notes / Domino 8.5 . . . . . .2015 maybe
