Issue:
Windows 7 or Windows 8 will have a botched update, a couple days later, the hard disk is full. The culprit is always a bunch of cab_XXXX_X files in the c:\Windows\temp folder.
e.g.
cab_1234_1
cab_1234_2
cab_1235_1
The CBS logs folder also has a bunch of log files never built completely after a certain date. The date is the date that the cab_XXXX_X files accrue. Some of the cab files will have 0 size, but one for each number sequence will be around 120 to 150MB, these are the ones that add up to fill up the space.
Solution / Workaround:
We have fixed the issue, by deleting all the log files in the c:\windows\Logs\CBS folder, that are after the last successful zipped CBS log files.
