Issue:
The configuration issues page and the alarm page show a message that cannot be acknowledged and cannot be cleared.
"vSphere HA initiated a failover action on 1 virtual machine in the cluster xxxxx in datacenter xxxx"
Cluster --> Monitor (tab) --> Triggered Alarms (left view option)
The "Acknowledge" and "Reset to Green" buttons cannot be clicked, and the alarm cannot be cleared.
Solution or Workaround:
Evidently no solution.
According to VMware article 396899, the workaround is to disable HA, wait a few seconds, then go back and re-enable it.
Steps:
a. Disable:
vSphere client --> Cluster --> Configure (tab) --> vSphere Availability (left menu option) --> click Edit (button) --> At the top, where the vSphere HA enable slider, slide left, to disable. The slider will turn from a green enabled to a grey disabled slider --> click OK (button) to save.
b. Wait a few seconds.
c. Re-enable:
vSphere client --> Cluster --> Configure (tab) --> vSphere Availability (left menu option) --> click Edit (button) --> At the top, where the vSphere HA enable slider, slide right, to enable. The slider will turn from a grey disabled to a green enabled slider --> click OK (button) to save.
The cluster triangular yellow caution will still be displayed, but the message will be gone from Overview, Alarms, and Monitoring views.
d. To remove the caution icon, click the recycle/refresh icon on the top bar of the vSphere client.
