Issue;
Windows Defender will not install. Error occurs near end of the installation saying that service will not start. Only option is to cancel and roll back the install.
"Service 'Windows Defender' (WinDefend) failed to start. Verify you have sufficient privileges to start system services."
Possible Resolution:
First: you are legal yes? It does a Win. Genuine check.
Second, you are an admin yes? It does require administrator user to perform the install.
Third, did you have a Spyware installed.? If so, it might have added the registry setting to block it.
Check the following:
Run Regedit.
Navigate to: HKEYLocalMachine\Software\Microsoft\Windows Defender.
Right-click the folder and select Permissions,
Give the Administrator FULL rights.
Delete the folder and key.
Install Windows Defender again.
