Issue:
The event log or a Netmon trace may show a reverse lookup to the local network that points shows a request to the server: blackhole.isi.edu -- now blackhole-n.iana.org or prisoner.iana.org.
This shows a local issue with DNS within the local network. To fix this issue, simply create a reverse lookup zone for the local network.
Example Fix:
So for 192.168.0.x, the zone 0.168.192-in-addr.arpa needs to be created.
More Info:
- In Windows 2000/2003, when you create this zone the SOA and the NS entries are created for you.
- In UNIX, the steps vary depending on the method used to create and update your DNS zones.
