Outlook 2007 Settings which affect e-mail as viewed by recipients:
E-mail formats:
HTML - provides web page graphic presentation of an e-mail. Its the largest setting but is very portable.
Plain Text - sends the text without formatting. Most compatible. However, as it implies, all formating (bold, color, size, fonts) are lost.
Rich Text Format - sends in the Outlook / Exchange format.
To change default globally:
Menu --> Tools --> Options. In dialog, select Mail Format tab --> Change Compose in This Message Format to desired format.
To change for specific recipient:
Contacts Folder --> Double-click Contact to open --> Double-click the contact's email address --> In the E-mail Properties dialog, change Internet Format to either Send Plain Text Only or Send Using Outlook Rich Text.
To change just the current new email being composed:
Message window --> Options tab --> Click the desired formatting button option: Plain Text, HTML, Rich Text.
Calendar Format:
Outlook 2007 supports the standard iCAL. It has issues with repeating meetings and meetings changed after acceptance (delegate issues, actually).
To change whether to send in this format:
Calendar view --> Menu --> Tools --> Options --> Calendar Options, in dialog --> Advanced Options --> When sending meeting requests over the Internet, use iCalendar format checkbox (enable/disable).
