Troubleshooting

Issue:
When Using Outlook, you move an e-mail into a local folder or a public folder. When you return to your e-mail (in-box) on the BlackBerry, the mail did not move.

Solution:
There is none - These are limitations. Unlike in Lotus Notes a local PST is not a "replica" that syncs with the server's "copy" of your mail. The BlackBerry device "errors" on the side of caution. It cannot see a local PST or a public folder on your Exchange Server or in SharePoint. Instead of just deleting it, it leaves them there. You can also see this happen if you Shift+delete a message. When the e-mail is immediately deleted, the BES server doesn't know that the e-mail was trashed and leaves it in your active in-box on the BlackBerry.

Work-around:
Copy messages out by Cntl+drag. Then delete the message from the in-box (into Trash). The BlackBerry can then see what happened and remove the message from your active in-box.

Notes:
In BES 4.12 or higher, you can enabled hard deletes. Any message that is moved out of your Exchange-based inbox will be treated as a hard-delete an removed. The "Hard Deletes Reconciliation" setting is under the Messaging section in the Server Properties.

Also, you can "hide" e-mails that are missing to the BES server, too. On the BlackBerry device, choose Messaging --> Options --> General Options --> Set "Hide Filed Messages" = "Yes".
