Bass / Kick - Perpendicular to throne, specifically the right "upper leg" playing the kick of the bass drum. Align pedal hit to drum center, making sure that the the pedal doesn't hit it on the back stroke.
Snare - Set up on stand belt height, with slight tilt toward you so that low hits just miss frame. Mount high enough so that you don't hit either thigh. The snare sits left of the Bass/Kick drum in-between it and the hi-hat.
Hi-Hat - Set up perpendicular to the left leg and the throne. Set up on stand around elbow height if arm is down then level to the top of the high-hat. Mount a little higher typically if playing hard rock or metal.
Floor Tom - Set up next to the right front edge of the Bass drum.
Other Toms - Usually sit over the Bass drum either mounted to it or on stands on sides.
