Issue:
No network after new 32bit or 64bit install of Windows 2008 Server.
Solution:
Install the VMWare Tools. They include the VMX network drivers. It will require a reboot, but you'll even see the cards as Windows goes down to restart. After that you will have one or more "VMWare Accelerated AMD PCNet Adapters" virtual network connections.
