Issue:
Cannot log onto sametime.
No errors in Domino log.
In Lotus Instant Messaging, Server Overview page (ST web admin screens), most of the services following "Community Services Launcher (stcommlaunch.exe)". starting with "Community Services (stcommunity.exe)" are Not Running.
In Sametime log, there are multiple error lines similar to the following: "E Server 29/May/05, 00:20:05 Cannot evaluate local ip, exiting".
Solution:
This is a problem with the local hosts file found in /windows/system32/drivers/etc/.
Do not add the machine name to the 127.0.0.1 line. (e.g. st.acme.com). Remove anything on the line after localhost. Instead create a new line(s) with the actual IP address(es).
Example:
